I could not start with out mentioning a huge milestone that we past as people... Although I am Canadian (and love being Canadian) I am still proud to see that USA has a African American President. I say proud because I too am black. I am not old enough to have physically/mental experienced slavery but I am well aware of my roots as a black man. To now witness a black president that is intelligent, diligent and an all around stand up dude. What more can we ask for?
A lot of people would argue with the fact that I am referring to him as a black man or an African American. I say this to them; if he was a criminal on the run he would be a 6 ft BLACK male in a hooded sweater... not a bi-racial half black/half white male... think about it...

I am going to end with a powerful line I found:

If you have not yet picked up/downloaded Tha Carter 3, than you aint part of the millions that he sold his first week out. The album in my oppion is greeeaaatttt. Don't get me wrong it ain't no Tha Carter 2, but i enjoy a lot of the tracks on there... For example IMO the best song on the album "A MILLI" That shit will be banging in my car for a minute.... It has been reported that Rapper/Actor Xzibit has lost the life of his new born son (Xavier). The cause is lung complications. Here is what X posted on his myspace:

“I am telling you this because of the same reason I tell you when I’m having great times, life is too short to be fake. Hold on to your kids, if you have them. Protect them and show them you love them everyday you wake up and see them. Don’t take a second you get to hug them, teach them and care for them for granted. You can have all the material wealth in the universe, but it is NOTHING compared to having your family.”

My condolence goes out to him and his family as they go through a very hard time.

Jailed Foxy Brown asks for release for ear problem!!!

Rapper Foxy Brown, serving a year-long prison term stemming from an assault charge, has asked a New York judge for early release to treat an ear condition she fears could threaten her hearing.

"I ask you to please take into consideration that my health is in jeopardy," Brown wrote in a four-page handwritten letter to Judge Melissa Jackson. The letter was part of an appeal filed late on Tuesday at New York State Supreme Court.

"Yes, I've made some bad choices and stupid mistakes. But please understand that sitting in a prison with murderers and criminals is not rehabilitating or what I need to deal with my inner issues."

Brown, 29, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was sentenced in October 2006 to three years probation after assaulting two nail salon stylists over a $20 manicure. But in September Jackson ruled that Brown was not taking probation seriously and sentenced the rapper to one year behind bars.

Brown's lawyer, Laura Dilimetin, said in court papers that Brown's ear condition makes continued incarceration unfair. In January 2006, Brown underwent surgery to have an electronic device implanted in her right ear to reverse "profound hearing loss," Dilimetin said.

The only doctor who has successfully treated Brown's condition -- and complications with the implant -- is based in California, she said.

Brown's 1999 album "Chyna Doll" opened at the top of the Billboard 200, the U.S. pop chart encompassing all styles of music, becoming the first female rap artist to achieve that.

Brown says that she has learned her lesson.

"Up until now, you've only heard about Foxy Brown the artist. I'd like to show you Inga Marchand the beautiful person that my mom raised me to be," she wrote "Jail has shaken me to my core, and my time away has impacted me greatly."

Grammy-winning singer Mary J. Blige blasted a report Sunday night linking her and other A-list celebrities to doctors and pharmacists targeted in a statewide steroid investigation.

Blige was identified in the Albany Times Union Sunday as being among a handful of entertainers who have allegedly ordered performance-enhancing drugs in recent years.

"Mary J. Blige has never taken any performance-enhancing illegal steroids," the singer's spokeswoman Karynne Tencer told the Daily News.

The R&B singer leads a roster of entertainers named in a probe by Albany County District Attorney David Soares, the Times Union reported.

For anyone that knows me personally, knows that I am obsessed with the like real life show THE WIRE. I say "like real life" because no matter what hood, what ghetto or projects you come from you can relate to this show. From season 1 to 4 they stay keepin me engaged in the show (not alot of shows can do that). I must admit they almost lost me at season two. To me it wasn't as intense as the 1st season, but I think they were trying to attract a new audience. Once they seen that wasn't working they hit us with Season 3, IMO the best season.

Mobb Deep rapper Prodigy was scheduled to go to jail yesterday (Jan.8th on gun charges but caught a break in Manhattan Supreme Court allowing him five more weeks of freedom.

Prodigy (born Albert Johnson) was due to begin a 3-1/2-year bid in state prison, convicted after being caught with a loaded, unregistered .22-caliber gun in his $150,000 bulletproof SUV in 2006.

But because the 33-year-old rapper is plagued with sickle cell disease - a life-long, genetic, incurable blood disorder that can lead to organ damage and stroke among other problems -- Supreme Court Justice Edward McLaughlin decided to give Prodigy's doctors 30 days to assemble his medical records. The rapper may be assigned to a prison with easy access to medical treatment, according to New York's Daily News.

Prodigy's lawyer, Irving Cohen, said his client has been in and out of hospitals his entire life.

TMZ has reported that Brandy was not at fault in the last year x-mas car crash.

A CHP source tells TMZ the woman who died in the car accident involving Brandy actually struck the vehicle in front of her before Brandy made any contact. The law enforcement source says Awatef Aboudihaj, the woman who died, struck the car in front of her -- which was going 65 mph, and then slammed on her brakes. We're told the sudden stop caused Brandy to hit the dead woman's car.

L.A. County Coroner spokesperson Captain Ed Winter tells TMZ that toxicology reports show Aboudihaj had "slight traces" of marijuana in her system at the time of the crash.

If this is true why did it take a full year to come out? As for Killa B career it's a rap!!

After months of speculation, Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z announced on December 24 that he
will officially vacate his position as President of Def Jam Records at the end of his term.
The 39-year-old rapper issued a statement today (December 24) stating he will step down as president in 2008.
“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have served as President of such a culturally-defining label as Def Jam over the last three years,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “During that time, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many of the world’s most dynamic artists and many of the most dedicated and talented executives in the music business today, including Antonio “L.A.” Reid. But now it’s time for me to take on new challenges.”
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, took over as President of Def Jam in 2005.
Under his guidance, the rapper signed his former rival Nas to Def Jam and oversaw the release of hit records by Kanye West, Rihanna and Ne-Yo.
The announcement serves to cap off a very turbulent year that saw Def Jam artist like LL Cool J protested that Jay as an artist and executive presented a unique conflict of interest. Additionally, number of traditionally successful Hip-Hop acts like The Roots, Redman and Method Man failed to get traction under his reign.
Island Def Jam Music Group Chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid said that Jay-Z felt it was time to take on “different challenges in his life.”
“While we regret his decision to move on, we certainly respect it,” Reid
said in a statement. “Since Jay joined us as President of Def Jam in 2005, we have all benefited from his leadership, sense of spirit and invaluable friendship. While he will continue to be one of our signature artists, he will nonetheless be missed in this executive capacity. The entire Island Def Jam family joins me in wishing him the very best in all of his future business endeavors.”
Jay-Z will continue running and recording for his Roc-A-Fella imprint, which is distributed by the Island Def Jam Music Group. The mogul is rumored to be making a transition to the urban division of Sony Records with Rick Rubin.
“I am pleased to have had the opportunity to build upon the Def Jam legacy, helping to move the company into a new era of artistic success,”

"LL and Jimmy said they just recorded a song together for LL’s album, called “The 5 Borough’s is Back,” along with Lil Kim, KRS-One, and Method Man. Nice! LL said he felt that his last 3 albums were not up to par, which Im sure most agree with. But he said that for his final Def Jam album, its importantly for him to live up to the standard of his catalog. Now, of course these are promises that we’ve heard before (from every artist whose been blessed to have a long enough career where falling off is even an option). But LL definitely seems passionate about the whole thing (probably fueled by feelings of indignation, lol).
Anyways, LL also said that he’s really happy too about his release, because he negotiated to take back all of his masters (minus a 10% cut to Def Jam). Which, with a 20+ year catalog, is HUGE. Owning “Radio” and “I Need Love” and “I’m Bad”? Better than a dozen Bentleys."

If the above is true than that would be a good look for all...I highly doubt it will have an I Shot Ya feel. KRS One, Method Man, Lil Kim and Jim Jones don't really equate to Foxy Brown, Prodigy, Fat Joe and Keith Murray in my opinion. It will be interesting to hear though, hopefully Kim and KRS put it down.
